Position purpose
The Data and Analytics Technical Specialist is responsible for ensuring the availability and accuracy of
Data & Analytics systems across Unitywater including the EDW (Enterprise Data Warehouse), Power
Platform, the business intelligence portal and associated solutions.
This role will:
• Have a strong understanding of the Data & Analytics solution architecture design; including relational
databases, data marts, and in-depth knowledge of ETL, Power Platform and BI tools and
technologies.
• Lead the technical liaison between the relevant development teams (internal or external), business
sponsors, Technology Teams, Information Management team and end users of repository data.
• Ensure the Data & Analytics systems, tools and data are reliable and available by efficiently
resolving incidents.
Position accountabilities
Key functions of the role include:
• Develop and maintain relationships to ensure service level management with outsourced Data and
Analytics service providers, ensuring that escalated issues are resolved within agreed timeframes.
• Ensure business requirements and functional specifications align to the technical direction,
architecture and roadmap for the D&A environment.
• Become proficient understanding the entire data lifecycle from end user input into source system, to
enterprise data warehouse (EDW) target tables, and subsequent tools.
• Provide guidance to project teams responsible for the development, unit/integration testing and
implementation, of simple to complex business solutions.

• Enforce standards and best practices regarding code review, code profiling and performance testing.
• Enforce data architecture standards and best practices including existing data and storage
standards adopted by the enterprise data and analytics solution.
• Articulate technical design options to various audiences.
• Evaluate vendor solutions and work with the vendor as applicable.
• Power Platform (D&A Solutions) health monitoring including monitoring of:
o system performance and identifying potential issues,
o working with users and workspace admins to optimise performance,
o gateway logs and troubleshoot any connectivity/performance issues,
o other aspects of platform health such as license and capacity.
• Implement and maintain key Power Platform (D&A Solutions) policies and procedures and develop
documentation including:
o Power Platform security, governance, and compliance policies
o Power Platform monitoring policies.
o Power Platform audit processes
• Change control processes for Power Platform solutions.
• Keep up to date with Microsoft releases, new functionality and identify opportunities to leverage new
functionality within the business.
• Participate in the design and delivery of business continuity and disaster recovery planning and
implementation for Data & Analytics solutions including testing requirements and resolution of
potential issues.
• Implement and maintain information security requirements to protect the confidentiality, integrity and
availability of critical systems and associated data.
• Meet all HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point)
• Meet relevant ISO standard
• Support and role model the WH&S policies, procedures, and practices of Unitywater as amended
from time to time.
• Participate in Unitywater safety audits and inspections to demonstrate visible safety leadership and
participation.
• Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the skill
and knowledge requirements for this position.

Capability requirements
The requirements for the position are:
• Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent 5 + years relevant experience.
• You would have proven expertise in technology service availability, performance, and capacity,
along with information security.
• Experience across the Microsoft Power Platform - including PowerBI, Power Apps, Power Automate,
including performing administrative functions within the Power Platform.
• Knowledge of Azure Platform is desirable.
• Experience with the Azure Analytics Stack (namely ADF, Azure Data Lake Storage and Databricks)
is highly desirable
• Extensive experience writing DAX, SQL and Power Query is desirable.
• Experience in designing and developing end-to-end Data & Analytics’ solutions using the Microsoft
Technology Stack.
• Extensive database administration experience using SQL Server (2008 or later).
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including the proven ability to effectively
communicate and influence decisions with all levels of internal and external customers.
Within the context of the duties and accountabilities described above, the ideal applicant will be
someone who has:
• Detailed understanding of dimensional modelling and ETL principles.
• Detailed understanding of end-to-end data warehouse / security, performance tuning, and
optimization.
• Experience with DW/BI technologies, such as PowerBI, SSIS, SSAS, and Excel Services.
• Demonstrated experience in Testing of ETL, Cube and Reporting solutions, both unit and functional.
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft’s Database scripting languages:
• T-SQL (stored procedure, functions, etc).
• MDX for reports and for calculated measures.
