The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Oracle & SQL Database Administrator to support and enhance critical enterprise database environments across both on-premises and cloud platforms on an initial 4-month contract.
In this role, you will be responsible for the administration, performance, availability, and security of Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases across production and non-production systems. You’ll work within a collaborative Database Services team, contributing to high availability, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives, while acting as a key escalation point for complex technical issues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining database platforms and related tools
- Supporting Oracle environments (OCI Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, TDE)
- Managing SQL Server and PostgreSQL (AWS RDS) databases
- Monitoring performance, investigating incidents, and resolving complex issues
- Performing backups, restores, refreshes, reorgs, and data extracts
- Developing automation and scripting (Linux/Windows, PL/SQL, T-SQL)
- Providing Level 3 support and managing vendor escalations (Oracle, Microsoft)
- Supporting tools such as Oracle Cloud Control, TOAD, SQL Developer, SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS
- Contributing to backup, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions
- Supporting release and change management processes
- Maintaining documentation and improving operational processes
- Providing technical guidance, mentoring, and best practice advice to stakeholders
What Are We Looking For
We’re looking for a highly capable DBA with strong cross-platform experience and the ability to operate in complex enterprise environments.
Skills mix we are looking for:
- Proven experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL administration
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (OCI and/or AWS RDS)
- Strong knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions
- Experience with database performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Scripting capability across PL/SQL, T-SQL, and/or shell scripting
- Experience using enterprise database tools and monitoring platforms
- Strong understanding of database security and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and stakeholder engagement
Highly desirable:
- Experience across public and private sector environments
- Exposure to Exadata environments
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members
